Kay’s K9 Grooming

I have decided it’s time to close my books to any new dogs, I’m still taking on new cats. This is so the welfare of your pets whilst in my care is of the high standard you have become use to.
Thank you for your continued support .
Kathy

I have been grooming since November 2015 and trained at Hadlow college in Kent by Julie Harris, one of the leading trainers in the UK. After a long career in retail, I decided to change my passion into a business and so, I trained and qualified in dog grooming and pet first aid. It is important to hold recognised qualifications as they don’t just cover how to style or hold the dog, but they also ensure a groomer understands the importance of dog safety and welfare.

I believe that like humans every dog is an individual and should be treated as such. I offer a bespoke 1-2-1 personal service with only your pet/s in the grooming salon during their visit. I also offer a collection and drop off service to anyone without a suitable vehicle to transport their pet.

Being a groomer is not just about the groom, it is about working with you the client for your pet’s needs, minimising stress levels and making it enjoyable.

What We Offer

We can offer grooming for:

Having a grooming salon at home allows for the quiet and calm atmosphere required for these services to be fulfilled.

Our services include:

VAT to be added to all charges.

Styling to breed standards

As a groomer I am trained to style your dog to breed standard as seen at Crufts, so that your dog can look its best with the coat and genetics that is has been given. Sometimes this is not practical so the groom will be adjusted to the customers requirements.

What is breed standard? Breed standard is there to accentuate your dogs genetic build and muscle structure, to give the best look for each individual breed.

Other benefits of regular grooms: You see me more than you see your vets, so lumps and bumps can be picked up early, anal glands are check regularly, teeth are checked for any loose ones or gum infections, nails trimmed keeping their feet healthy.

Matted dogs: All grooms include 15 mins of de-matting if needed, anything over that will incur a further charge. I always check dogs over on arrival so this will discussed on drop off.

We also groom cats:

Our services include, Nail trimming, ears and eyes cleaned, de-shedding to remove dead hair, clipping, de-matting, bathing, trimming bottoms, tummy and pads all is tailor made for your breed of cat.

The 5 Freedom Act

Bespoke Client Service example

Molly, a year-old Tibetan Terrier suffered with separation anxiety and had never been groomed before.

The first visit was simply for a chat and play and then allowed me to create a plan on how to move forward.

Due to her anxiety we started with weekly visits to me for half an hour just to play and gain her confidence.

After 6 weeks we moved onto a bath and brush, then a couple of weeks later we progressed to a full groom, maintaining the ‘play dates’ for a number of weeks before phasing them out.
